Human societies have been built on biodiversity. Many activities indispensable for human subsistence lead to loss, and this trend is likely to continue in the future. We clearly benefit from the diversity of organisms that we have learned to use for medicines, food, fibers, and other renewable resources. The loss of biodi versity is expected to continue at an unchanged increasing pace in the coming decades. Here, we reviewed current scientific knowledge on global biodiversity change and identify the main gap of knowledge and discussed two components of biodi versity change- biodiversity alterations and loss. The study also identified how to change biodiversity over chronological time scale. Finally, the study examined the predicted biodi versity loss in coming years that are significant of analysis.
