ABSTRACT

A pot experiment was conducted at Bangladesh Institute of Nuclear Agriculture (BINA), Mymensingh, during October 2012 to January 2013 to assess the salt tolerance of sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L.) genotypes viz. Safal 999, Debudoy, Jamboo, Hybrid Sorgo and Hybrid Sudan. The plants were grown under four salinity levels viz. control (0.42dSm-1), 6 dSm-1, 9 dSm-1 and 12 dSm-1. Plant height, Leaf Area Index (LAI), 1000-grain weight, grain yield plant-1 and harvest index (HI) were decreased gradually with gradual increase in salinity levels. The genotype Hybrid Sorgo showed better performance than other genotypes at same salinity stress condition. Therefore, Hybrid Sorgo was found more tolerant to salinity.
