ABSTRACT

To select short day and low temperature tolerant jute lines with high yield, an experiment was conducted at Jute Research Sub-station, Bangladesh Jute Research Institute (BJRI), Patuakhali in 2017. Five selected white jute accessions i. e., Acc-891; Acc-3337(25); Acc-2673(P27); Acc-870; Acc-4683 were used in this study in association with BJRI released white jute variety CC-45 used as control. The experiment was designed by using randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications. Significant variations were observed among the genotypes for all the studied traits. Accession 870 performed better in respect of fiber yield   (22.12 g plant-1) and without premature flowering. It was followed by Acc-4683 (18.00 g plant-1) and Acc-891(18.00 g plant-1). In contrast, Acc.-2673 produced the minimum fiber yield (12.00 g plant-1) and yield contributing traits than the check variety CC-45(14.00 g plant-1).
